The Electricity Board has requested a significant increase in the state's power tariff. In a tariff petition filed with the Regulatory Commission, the board sought an increase in the tariff for domestic consumers from 30 paise to 92 paise per unit. The Regulatory Commission, however, rejected this. If the board's demand is accepted, the commission claims the move will cause a tariff shock in the state.
