The low-pressure system that formed over the Odisha-AP coast in the Bay of Bengal has intensified. It is currently making its way toward Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra. Until recently, it moved through Andhra Pradesh to Telangana and Maharashtra. According to the Meteorological Department, it is expected to develop into a severe low-pressure system in two days, causing southwest monsoon winds to become active. As a result, rain is falling across the state, and winds are gusting to 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in coastal areas. For the next two days, the Meteorological Department predicts heavy to very heavy rains in many areas of north Andhra and the twin Godavari districts. Rains are expected to wreak havoc on the districts of Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Alluri Seetharamaraju, Kakinada, and Konaseema. In the remaining districts, there is a chance of light rain. Meanwhile, rain totaled 1.2 cm in Alluri district on Monday, 5.3 cm in Munchangiputtu Mandal's Borangu, and 3 to 3.5 cm in Araku Valley, Paderu, Chintur, and Hukumpeta. Nasrat Mandrupkar, PRO of South Central Railway's Vijayawada Division, said in a statement on Monday that due to the incessant rains over the last three days, many trains running through the division have been canceled completely and others partially as precautionary measures. From the 11th to the 13th of this month, the trains Kakinada-Visakhapatnam-Kakinada (17267/17268) and Vijayawada-Bitragunta-Vijayawada (07978/07977) were completely canceled.
