Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray compared rebel party leaders to "rotten leaves" of a tree on Tuesday and said elections should be held to determine whether people support him or the rebel faction. Thackeray said in his first interview with Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana' after stepping down as chief minister last month that it was a mistake to have placed too much trust in some of the party's leaders. The Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra, which included the Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress, fell apart last month after Sena MLA Eknath Shinde and 39 other legislators rebelled against the party leadership. Shinde was sworn in as chief minister, and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis was named as his deputy. "These insurgents are rotten tree leaves that should be shed. It is beneficial to the tree because it will produce new leaves, according to Thackeray. In response to rebel leaders' claims that they represent the true Shiv Sena, Thackeray said that elections should be held to see who the people chose. "We will either vote for them or support them. The former CM stated that it will be clear once and for all. When asked who was to blame for the rebellion, he said, "It appears that I placed too much trust in some Sena workers and leaders." It was my mistake to have trusted them for so long." "The BJP is not only attempting to dismantle the Shiv Sena but also to appropriate great leaders from other parties," Thackeray claimed. "They are attempting to appropriate Sardar Patel from the Congress in the same way they attempted to appropriate my late father, Balasaheb Thackeray, who founded the Shiv Sena, he claimed. These people do not appear to be trustworthy. They are essentially causing infighting among Sena employees, he claims. Thackeray also stated that the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance was worth a political trial. People would have revolted against our alliance if it had been a mistake. "In the Maha Vikas Aghadi, we had mutual respect," the Sena chief said.
